Blackheath barrage too much for Quins Ladies
Sunday 23rd October signalled a trip to Blackheath for Harlequin Ladies for their fourth league game of the season filled with the anticipation of facing a familiar foe.

As with our previous games, this match was a fearsome battle between ferociously physical sides. Sampling some diverse and untried combinations in the squad, Quins Ladies took to the pitch ready to experiment and use players to best advantage in their positions.

Striving to put Blackheath on the back foot and capitalise on their possession, Quins Ladies drove into the opposite half only for the ball to be turned over and Blackheath to strike blow after blow to the score line.

Entering into the second half, Quins Ladies drew their heads up and foisted more pressure on Blackheath’s defence, only to find themselves unable to close the deal. Despite a valiant resurgence in the second half, Quins Ladies fell short of turning the red and black tide and as the game drew to a close, Blackheath managed to hold on to their victory.

In spite of this, fantastic contributions were made by the entire team, particularly our new players and those playing out of position but, as usual, there could only be one forward and one back of the match. Kat Smith, a perennial force in the Quins’ front row, deservedly took forward of the match, while Mel Antao, a recent convert to scrum half from her sojourn in the forwards, was once again award to accolade of back of the match.

As always, spectating is actively encouraged! If you would like to watch Quins Ladies in action, check our relaunched website for details of our fixtures … www.harlequinladies.co.uk.
